Wednesday Night Skate?

Wednesday Night Skate?

Postby Jason » 10 Mar 2010, 13:19

Hi, just wondering when we are thinking about restarting the Wednesday Night Skate

Obviously it's too short notice for tonight but the weather has generally improved recently and it might be about time to start them up again. What does everyone else think?

That would be Lance's call.

I'd assumed we where waiting until 31st March, as that's the first Wednesday after the clocks go forward.

HELLO AGAIN. I must admit, I am/was tempted. BBC weather shows a clear evening with low wind but dammed cold. What do people recon. I was 50:50 as I keep missing other skating opportunities. I'm calling a NO GO tonight for the reason that I've only just got home and I think people need more warning.

SO. THIS IS OFFICIAL WARNING.

BE prepared for SPONTANEOUS WED's NIGHT SKATES.

I like Jim's plan of officially starting after clocks change, but I also think we should be on guard for nights like tonight where we could actually go for it. Half time pub stop would be compulsory to warm up.

If I remember to check...

I WILL POST A NO / MAYBE HERE on the next 2 Tues eve's/Weds mornings to warn people to be on guard and to check the TDR (Tarmac Dryness Rating) in there areas over the day and report in.

*** JUST IN: Oh, next Weds is St Patrick's day. Anyone fancy an official St Patrick's Day WNS? ***

So, what do people recon. Skate if we can or wait until official start on Weds 31st March?

Idea. How about we do an Irish potato famine skate. I hide some potatoes around the city and we have to race each other for them. Winner gets shipped off to America on the Titanic. Humm in hindsight, I'm not sure that's very appropriate!

If we do go on the 17th I recommend avoiding the city centre due to how busy it will be.

It may be wise to wait until the week after due to the lack of space in any of the potential finishing pubs

When will you give warning of your spontaneous wednesday night skates Lance? I would like to start coming but I will need more time than you to get up to Notts...Really would have to be 5:30 at the latest and I know you used to post it only at 6:30.

I have the same problem, I'm afraid we get travel time warning only, It's called that late because it needs to be.

If the weather is good assume it's on. I check the website wearing a coat with my skates in a bag.

historically I post statuses when i get home from work and then rush to eat, pack and then cycle into town. If in doubt send me a text on 07970230815 to ask and I'l try and make an on the spot call. Mental note made to try and do this as early as possible.
