The NottinghamSkaters
Weekend Meetup
There is a NottinghamSkaters meetup (almost) every weekend! Whether indoors or outdoors, this session is open to any skater, any age: beginner, intermediate or expert; student, local or old school; inline, quaddie or biskateual.
You can usually expect the following:
- Skating lessons for beginners.
- Tuition and/or practice in the freestyle skating arts: style slalom, speed slalom, freejump, slides and stair-riding.
- Street hockey and other rollersports including rollerfootball, rollerbasketball and roller-Frisbee.
- Tarting. (Skater term for standing around with skates on, talking and not actually skating. We do this quite a lot).
The meetup ends with a slow-paced street skate (when the meetup is outdoors). This is great practice for street skating and a testing ground for the Wednesday Night Skate.
Any new skaters are welcome to join us on Saturdays for SKATING LESSONS. Also, please post on the forum or send us an email if you are coming for beginner lessons, so we know to expect you and have an instructor present.
The next meetup is OUTDOORS, from 1:30pm, at Jubilee campus on Saturday 31st July 2010. Saturday Stroll starts at approx. 4pm.
Outdoor Meetups
Where? = Either Cripps Hall car park or Jubilee campus, both part of the University of Nottingham.
When? = Almost every Saturday.
What time? = Meet at 1:30pm.
How much? = FREE!
Skate hire = On request.
We meet at 1:30pm on either the main visitors (Cripps Hall) car park of the main campus (University Park) of the University of Nottingham, or by the fountains (in the shadow of Aspire) on The University of Nottingham's Jubilee campus.
You can see Cripps Hall car park in the centre of this map. You can see Jubilee campus on this map. We meet on the NCSL car park, the white space just below the Amenities Building, with the lake to left.
Please post on our forum if you require detailed directions to either meeting place.
If it's raining, has recently rained or looks like it's about to rain, the session is off.
Indoor Meetups
Where? = University of Nottingham Sutton Bonnington Campus Sports Hall, Sutton Bonnington, LE12 5RD.
When? = Some Saturdays.
What time? = Varies.
How much? = £4.
Skate hire = No.
When the weather is not so great for skating outside, we book time in the UoN SB sports hall. The change of venue is pretty much the only change though!
